ESDM Minister Ready to Strengthen Upstream Oil Sector
ESDM Minister Sudirman Said (Photo: Antara), Jakarta: The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has been focusing on the improvement of upstream oil sectors, as the sectors are the initial points of movement for the entire efforts to improve economy in oil and gas sector.
"A message that we have the urgency to re-establish the policies of oil and gas industry management, especially in the upstream," ESDM Minister Sudirman Said said during the signing of Product Sharing Contract (PSC) and the announcement of the 2015 work areas auction, in the sidelines of the 39th Indonesia Petroleum Association Convention & Expo, taking place in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (5/22/2015).
Sudirman said that as an effort to focus on the upstream sector, he had signed cooperation agreements with several oil and gas enterprises. Aside from focusing the upstream sector, the signing is also considered as a form of work performance from all aspects, be it the government or oil and gas business people to handle energy crisis.
"We have just conducted the signing. This is a sign that in order to face crisis, we have to keep on working," he explained.
Moreover, Sudirman appealed to all stakeholders and oil and gas businessmen to be more vibrant in building industries within oil and gas sector in the future.
"The upstream is the beginning of the entire oil and gas economy. I would like us to look forward on this one economy. No matter how hard the situation, we still have to build this industry," he concluded.
